Abstract

Abstract A coaxial contact element (12) for use in receptacle connectors of the type used with printed circuit cards and the like. More particularly the contact element (12) includes an inner contact (34) for being electrically mated with a center contact (96) of a post (14) and an outer contact (36) for being electrically mated with outer contacts (98) of the post (14). A dielectric spacer (38) electrically isolates the inner (34) and outer contacts (36) of the contact element (12).

Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim 203 words
A coaxial contact element (12) for electrically engaging a post (14) having electrically isolated center and outer contacts (96,98), said contact element (12) comprising: a first contact (34) having an intermediate section (40), receptacle means extending outwardly from one end of said intermediate section (40) for electrically engaging a center contact (96) on a post (14) and lead means (22) extending outwardly from an opposite end of said intermediate section (40) for electrically engaging a circuit on a circuit card; a second contact (36) having an intermediate section (70), receptacle means (72) extending outwardly from one end of said intermediate section (70) for electrically engaging outer contacts (98) on a post (14) and lead means (24) extending outwardly from an opposite end of said intermediate section (70) for electrically engaging a circuit on a circuit card, said intermediate section (40) of said first contact (34) disposed in said intermediate section (70) of said second contact (36) with respective receptacle means (42,72) and respective lead means (22,24) extending outwardly from opposite ends of respective intermediate sections (40,70) in electrical non-interfering paths; and dielectric spacer means (38) disposed between respective intermediate sections (40,70) to electrically isolate said first contact (34) from said second contact (36).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 203 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 58 words
The coaxial contact element (12) of claim 1 wherein the respective receptacle (42,72) means on said first and second contacts (34,36) each include parallel, cantilever beams (54,82) extending outwardly from opposite sides of respective intermediate sections (40,70) and wherein said beams (54) of said first contact (34) are positioned between said beams (82) of said second contact (36).
