Abstract
Abstract A data carrier is described in which a bar code is arranged line by line in the data area of a data carrier 1. At the start and at the end of each line, an additional field is provided in which a line indicator is allocated. The line indicator also has a bar combination which corresponds to the selected bar code. The additional fields 6a, 6b of the first line 3a contain the total number of lines, the total number being encoded as a letter. <IMAGE>
