Portable electronic apparatus with a keyboard

Claim 2

A portable electronic apparatus comprising: a housing (1) having a mounting portion (10); and a keyboard unit (12) removably mounted on the mounting portion; characterized in that: said keyboard unit (12) includes a substantially planar keyboard body (14) made of synthetic resin, a large number of keys (15) arranged substantially over the whole top face of the keyboard body, a film member (16) put on the underside of the keyboard body and having a circuit pattern thereon, and a keyboard frame (13) fitted on the peripheral edge portion of the keyboard body, said keyboard frame being fitted to the mounting portion of the housing, said keyboard body having a fixing portion (18) protruding from the under­side thereof so as to extend through the film member; and means for fixing the fixing portion to the housing is provided.

Claim 3

An apparatus according to claim 1, charac­terized by further comprising a printed board (36) disposed adjacent to the mounting portion (10) in the housing (1), and characterized in that said keyboard unit (12) includes a shielding plate (17) for shielding the printed board from noises produced by the keyboard unit, said shielding plate being fixed to the underside of the keyboard body with the film member therebetween, said fixing portion (18) projecting through the shielding plate.

Claim 4

An apparatus according to claim 2, charac­terized by further comprising shielding means (37) in the housing (1) for shielding the printed board (36) from external noises, and characterized in that said shielding plate (17) is connected electrically with the shielding means.

Claim 5

An apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that said shielding plate (17) includes a conducting portion (17a) adapted to come into contact with the shielding means (37) when the keyboard unit (12) is mounted on the mounting portion (10).

Claim 6

An apparatus according to claim 1, charac­terized in that said housing (1) includes a base portion (2) having a bottom wall (2a) and a peripheral wall (2b) protruding therefrom so as to extend along the peripheral edge of the bottom wall, and a cover portion (3) mounted on the peripheral wall so as substantially to cover the rear half of the base portion, said cover portion having a front end wall (3a) extending substan­tially perpendicular to the bottom wall, and said mounting portion (10) is defined by the front end wall (3a) and that portion of the peripheral wall (2b) situated corresponding to the front half of the base portion (2).

Claim 7

An apparatus according to claim 5, charac­terized in that said front end wall (3a) has a sup­porting portion (5) projecting toward the mounting portion (10) and an engaging portion (4), and said keyboard frame (13) includes a rear frame portion (13d) abutting against the front end wall, a front frame por­tion (13a) facing the rear frame portion, and a pair of lateral frame portions (13b, 13c), said rear frame por­tion resting on the supporting portion and having a retaining portion (28) engaging the engaging portion, said front frame portion and said pair of lateral frame portions being fitted on the end edge of the peripheral wall of the base portion.

Claim 8

An apparatus according to claim 5, charac­terized in that said fixing portion (18) of the keyboard unit (12) includes a plurality of bosses (18) each having a tapped hole, the bottom wall (2a) of said base portion (2) has a plurality of projections (9) pro­jecting toward the keyboard unit (12) and individually facing the bosses, and said fixing means includes a plurality of screws (22) penetrating the projections from under the bottom wall and screwed in the bosses corresponding thereto.

Claim 9

An apparatus according to claim 5, charac­terized in that said keyboard body (14) has a plurality of notches (21) formed in the peripheral edge portion thereof at spaces from one another, and said keyboard frame (13) has an annular inner peripheral wall (26) abutting against the peripheral edge portion of the top face of the keyboard body, and a plurality of engaging hooks (27) protruding from the inner peripheral wall to extend through the notches and engage the underside of the keyboard body, thereby holding the peripheral edge portion of the keyboard body in cooperation with the inner peripheral wall.

Claim 10

A portable electronic apparatus comprising: housing means (1) having a mounting portion (10); and input means (12) removably mounted on the mounting portion, for inputting information, characterized in that: said input means (12) includes a substantially pla­nar body (14) made of synthetic resin, a large number of keys (15) arranged substantially over the whole top face of the body, a film member (16) put on the underside of the body and having a circuit pattern thereon, shielding means (17) disposed on the film member, for shielding noises produced by key operation, and a keyboard frame (13) fitted on the peripheral edge portion of the body, said keyboard frame being fitted to the mounting portion of the housing means; and fixing means for fixing the body to the housing means is provided, said fixing means including a fixing portion (18) protruding from the underside of the body so as to extend through the film member and the shielding means and engaging the housing means, and means (22) for screwing the fixing portion to the housing means.

Claim 11

A portable electronic apparatus comprising: housing means (1) having a mounting portion (10); and input means (12) removably mounted on the mounting portion, for inputting information, characterized in that: said input means (12) includes a substantially pla­nar body (14) made of synthetic resin, a large number of keys (15) arranged substantially over the whole top face of the body, a film member (16) put on the underside of the body and having a circuit pattern thereon, shielding means (17) disposed on the film member, for shielding noises produced by key operation, and a keyboard frame (13) fitted on the peripheral edge portion of the body, said keyboard frame being fitted to the mounting portion of the housing means; and fixing means for fixing the body to the housing means is provided, said fixing means including a fixing portion (18) protruding from the underside of the body so as to extend through the film member and the shielding means and engaging the housing means, and means (22) for screwing the fixing portion to the housing means.
