Abstract
Abstract A portable parking meter device comprises, in combination, a portable registering device (10) and an exchangeable card (11) to be used in conjunction therewith, means provided in the registering device (10) for transmitting to the card (11), in each parking, signals defining the tariff associated with the parking lot, the authority to which the parking fee is to be paid, and the exact duration of each parking, and means provided in said card for storing said signals.

Method for registering parking fees due by a driver to various local authorities on a card, comprising providing a timer, providing means for registering and storing information on the card, storing thereon the fixed coefficients (as hereinbefore defined), setting number of parking time units and the parking time to zero, starting the operation of the timer, checking at suitable intervals the actual time passed against the time value of one parking time unit, if such value has not been reached, continuing the aforesaid operations, if said value has been reached, multiplying the time value of one parking unit by the parking tariff, whereby to determine a time charged, and storing the time charged and the zone code on the parking card, setting the number of PUs back to zero while keeping the parking time equal to the time value of one PU, and continuing the aforesaid operations until the parking time has reached or exceeded the maximum parking time required or until the device is stopped.
