Abstract

In a known shock absorber, a throttle cross section of a throttle passage for adjusting the damping can be changed electrically via a magnet. If the magnet is de-energized in the event of a defect, the throttle cross section of the throttle passage reaches its minimum and the damping reaches its maximum. In the new shock absorber (2) according to the invention, another, further throttle passage (90) is released in the event of a defect. In the event of a defect, this results in an arbitrarily selectable, preferably approximately medium damping. Der Stoßdämpfer ist vorzugsweise für Kraftfahrzeuge bestimmt. The shock absorber is preferably intended for motor vehicles.
