Abstract

Abstract Information detecting apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a probe arranged to face an information medium so as to relatively move to the information medium to thereby detect information from the information medium, a first vibrating device for vibrating the probe relatively to the information medium in a first direction parallel with the information medium, a first movement detecting device for detecting a state of relative displacement of the probe for the information medium in the first direction on the basis of information obtained by the probe which is caused to vibrate by the first vibrating device, a second vibrating device for vibrating the probe relatively to the information medium in a second direction which is parallel with the surface of the information medium and crosses the first direction, and a second movement detecting device for detecting a state of relative displacement of the probe to the information medium in the second direction on the basis of information obtain by the probe which is caused to vibrate by the second vibrating device.

An apparatus for detecting information out of a information medium, comprising: a probe relatively movably arranged with respect to the information medium, for detecting information out of said information medium; a first vibration means for vibrating said probe in a first direction in parallel with a surface of the information medium relatively to the information medium a first movement detection means for detecting a relative displacement state in the first direction for the information medium of said probe out of information obtained by said probe in vibration due to said first vibration means; second vibration means for vibrating said probe in a second direction which is in parallel with the surface of the information medium and crossing said first direction relatively to the information medium; and a second movement detection means for detecting a relative displacement state of said probe for the information in the second direction out of information obtained by said probe in vibration due to said second vibration means.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 162 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
An apparatus according to Claim 1, further comprising tunnel current detection means for detecting, a tunnel current running between said probe and the information medium.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 17 words
An apparatus according to Claim 1, wherein said first and second vibration means simultaneously vibrate said probe.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 40 words
An apparatus according to Claim 3, wherein said first vibration means vibrates said probe with a first oscillation frequency and said second vibration means vibrates said probe with a second oscillation frequency which is different from the first oscillation frequency.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 56 words
An apparatus according to Claim 4, wherein said first movement detection means performs the detection on the basis of a signal component due to the vibration at said first oscillation frequency and said second movement detection means performs the detection on the basis of a signal component due to the vibration at said second oscillation frequency.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 38 words
An apparatus according to Claim 1, further comprising means for correcting a relative shift of said probe for the information medium in said second direction on the basis of a detection result by said second movement detection means.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 66 words
