Abstract

Abstract A breast prosthesis aggregate consisting of (a) a flexible resilient breast prosthesis (10) imitating a female left or right breast; and (b) one or more flexible fastening slabs (12; 40,42) sealable to the skin of the wearer by means of a skin-friendly adhesive. The prosthesis can be releasably secured to the slab or slabs my means of complementary, interacting attachment members, preferably of the hook-and-loop type with the hooks on the prosthesis, placed on a backward ledge (18) on the prosthesis and the front side of the slabs. On the ledge the attachment members are arranged in separate areas (20) disposed at a mutual distance in an arched, upward convex pattern. On a single slab areas of loop part of the closure may be placed in an analogous pattern or cover its entire front side. However, a single slab (12) may be replaced by anumber of small slabs (40,42) each corresponding to one area (20) of attachment members on the ledge.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 249 words
A breast prosthesis aggregate consisting of (a) a flexible, resilient breast prosthesis (10) having a front imitating the shape of a natural female breast, and (b) one or more flexible fastening slabs (12) having on the back side a skin-friendly adhesive adapted to adhere to the skin of the wearer in the area to fasten the prosthesis, the prosthesis being adapted to be releasably secured to the slab or slabs by means of complementary, interacting attachment members being placed on a backward ledge (18) in the prosthesis and on the front side of the slab or slabs, respectively, said ledge being delimited from the outer periphery of the prosthesis by a lip-like border area (16) adapted to bear tightly against the skin of the wearer at least along the upper parts of the lip and to extend in use past any fastening slab secured to the wearer's skin in the area to be covered by the prosthesis, characterized in that the ledge (18) bears a number of areas (20) of attachment members disposed at a mutual distance in an arched, upwards convex pattern adapted to interact with one or more areas (34) of attachment members present on the slab or slabs fastened to the skin opposite them, said ledge (18) in its entirety being positioned at a distance of at least 5 mm plus the total thickness of the interacting attachment members in their locked position from a base surface defined by the periphery of the lip-like border area.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 249 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 188 words
An aggregate as claimed in claim 1 wherein the front of the prosthesis is unsymmetrical, imitating a natural left or right breast, said prosthesis (10) in projection on its base surface being a right-angled to obtuse-angled triangle having strongly rounded angles and straight to curved sides, the larger angle being turned upwards, at least the side opposite to this angle being somewhat curved and having in use a mainly horizontal chord and the shortest side of the triangle being adapted to be positioned medially in use, characterized in that the prosthesis is adapted to be secured by means of one fastening slab (12) which has the shape of an angle and has attachment members (34) on its front side, whereas the attachment members (20) on the prosthesis are positioned partly (a) in an arched to angled pattern on the upper part of the ledge (18) and extend to approximately a line containing the point of gravity of the prosthesis (10) on the base surface when the prosthesis is lying thereon, and (b) partly below said line near the lower portions of the lip adjacent the two lower angles.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 32 words
An aggregate as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the ledge (18) is oblique relative to the base surface, having its greatest distance therefrom at the upper part of the prosthesis.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 53 words
An aggregate as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, characterized in that the ledge (18) at least in the upper portion of the prosthesis is positioned at a distance from the base surface of at least 10 mm including the total thickness of the interacting attachment member (20,34) in the locked position.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
An aggregate as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, characterized in that the prosthesis (10) is provided with a recess or cavity (22) extending from the ledge (18) towards the front of the prosthesis.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
An aggregate as claimed in anyone of the preceding claims, characterized in that the inner surface of the lip (16) is coated with a soft textile material.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A breast prosthesis as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the textile material is a non-woven textile.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 76 words
An aggregate as claimed in claim 2, wherein the interacting attachment members are of the hook-and-loop type with areas of hooks placed on the ledge (18) of the prosthesis and areas of loops on the front side of the slab (12), characterized in that the areas (34) of loops on the slab (12) are arranged in a pattern complementarily corresponding to the pattern of the hook areas on the ledge (18) as defined in claim 2.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 48 words
An aggregate as claimed in claim 2 wherein the interacting attachment members are of the hook-and-loop type with areas of hooks placed on the ledge (18) of the prothesis and loops (34) on the slab (12), characterized in that the slab has loops on its entire front side.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 92 words
An aggregate as claimed in claim 1 wherein the interacting attachment members are of the hook-and-loop type with areas of hooks placed on the ledge (18) of the prosthesis as defined in claim 2, characterized in that the prosthesis (10) is adapted to be fastened to the body of the wearer by a plurality of fastening slabs (40,42), each slab having an area as or slightly larger than an area of hooks on the ledge (18) and having the loops of the interacting attachment members on at least part of its front.
