Abstract

Abstract Input to the system is buffered by the forms manager (11) to determine access to the tile/cell (53-62) and to check entered data. The tile/cell (53-62) will retain various information such as data entered, user, time, changes, etc. To display a form, the forms manager (11) obtains a list of objects (81, 82) to be displayed. This list of objects is then edited (89) to remove objects which are not utilized and to place the remaining objects in a prioritized order (90-92). The forms manager then generates the display (85-88).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 41 words
A method for generating a display on an operator display module comprising the steps of: receiving an instruction (80) to display a form; obtaining an object list (81, 82); and assigning a tile to each object in said object list (87).
Claim 2
Independent Claim 41 words
A method for generating a display on an operator display module comprising the steps of: receiving an instruction (80) to display a form; obtaining an object list (81, 82); and assigning a tile to each object in said object list (87).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 65 words
The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of: moving a draw point to a home position (84); drawing a tile (87) of an object if there is an object to be drawn; moving said draw point to a next position (88); and repeating said steps of drawing a tile (87) and moving said draw point (88) until all said tiles have been drawn.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 39 words
The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of: eliminating an object from said object list if said object is not monitored (89); obtaining a prioritization list (90); and arranging said objects according to said prioritization list (92).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 55 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said tile comprises a definition comprising: a physical size; an information display rule; an access table for identifying individuals who have access to said tile; a tile name; and a storage area for retaining time of entries and identification of entrant of objects into a cell of said tile.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 75 words
A method for generating a display on an operator display module comprising the steps of: receiving an instruction to display a form (80); obtaining an object list (81, 82); eliminating an object from said object list if said object is not a monitored object (89); obtaining a prioritization list (90); prioritizing said object list according to said prioritization list (92); assigning a tile to each object to be displayed (83); and displaying said tiles (87).
Claim 7
Independent Claim 75 words
A method for generating a display on an operator display module comprising the steps of: receiving an instruction to display a form (80); obtaining an object list (81, 82); eliminating an object from said object list if said object is not a monitored object (89); obtaining a prioritization list (90); prioritizing said object list according to said prioritization list (92); assigning a tile to each object to be displayed (83); and displaying said tiles (87).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 65 words
The method of claim 5 further comprising the steps of: moving a draw point to a home position (84); drawing a tile (87) of an object if there is an object to be drawn; moving said draw point to a next position (88); and repeating said steps of drawing a tile (87) and moving said draw point (88) until all said tiles have been drawn.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 55 words
The method of claim 5 wherein said tile comprises a definition comprising: a physical size; an information display rule; an access table for identifying individuals who have access to said tile; a tile name; and a storage area for retaining time of entries and identification of entrant of objects into a cell of said tile.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 25 words
The method of claim 5 wherein a cell of said tile comprises a pop-up menu (70) which is displayed upon selection of said cell (65).
Claim 11
Independent Claim 110 words
A method for receiving an input from a user by means of an input device (12) coupled to a forms manager (11), said method comprising the steps of: printing an error message (22) if said input does not select an item; printing an error message (24) if said item selected is not enterable by said user; printing an error message (27) if said input is not a valid character; adding a character (29) represented by said input to an item value of said item; storing said item value (28) if said input is a terminator; and sending a signal to an application program that said item value is available (30).
Claim 12
Independent Claim 110 words
A method for receiving an input from a user by means of an input device (12) coupled to a forms manager (11), said method comprising the steps of: printing an error message (22) if said input does not select an item; printing an error message (24) if said item selected is not enterable by said user; printing an error message (27) if said input is not a valid character; adding a character (29) represented by said input to an item value of said item; storing said item value (28) if said input is a terminator; and sending a signal to an application program that said item value is available (30).
Claim 13
Independent Claim 94 words
A method for receiving an input from a user by means of an input device (12) coupled to a forms manager (11), said method comprising the steps of: printing an error message (37) if said input is not located on an active form; printing an error message (39) if said input is not located on an item selectable by said user; generating a select event (41) if said input is located on a pop-up menu; and generating an event associated with said input (42) if said input is not located on a pop-up menu.
Claim 14
Independent Claim 94 words
A method for receiving an input from a user by means of an input device (12) coupled to a forms manager (11), said method comprising the steps of: printing an error message (37) if said input is not located on an active form; printing an error message (39) if said input is not located on an item selectable by said user; generating a select event (41) if said input is located on a pop-up menu; and generating an event associated with said input (42) if said input is not located on a pop-up menu.
