Abstract

Abstract A disc cartridge is comprised of a cartridge body (4) and a reinforcing member (10). The cartridge body (4) is formed of a pair of cartridge halves (2, 3), each of which is made of a synthetic resin and has an opening portion (7, 8) extended from a central portion of at least one of the pair of cartridge halves to one side wall portion so as to expose one portion of a disc-shaped record medium (5) rotatably accommodated therein outside and a portion (7a, 8a) in which outer end portions of the opening portion of the one side wall portion are coupled is formed thin. The reinforcing member (10) is made of a material having a mechanical strength higher than that of the pair of cartridge halves (2, 3) to reinforce the thin coupling portion (7a, 8a) formed at the one side wall portion.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 111 words
A disc cartridge (1) comprising: a cartridge body (4) formed of a pair of cartridge halves (2, 3) made of synthetic resin at least one of which has an opening (7, 8) extending from its central portion to a side wall portion so as to expose part of a disc-shaped recording medium (5) accommodated therein, and a coupling portion (7a, 8a) connecting the outer ends of said body (4) at each side of the opening (7, 8) the surface of the coupling portion (7a, 8a) being recessed from a surface of the cartridge body (4); and reinforcing means for reinforcing said coupling portion (7a, 8a) formed at said side wall portion.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 111 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
The disc cartridge of claim 1 wherein at least one surface of said reinforcing means (10) is covered by said coupling portion (7a, 8a).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
The disc cartridge of claim 1 wherein said reinforcing means (10) is provided at least at one of said cartridge halves (2, 3).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
The disc cartridge of claim 1 or 3 wherein said coupling portion (7a, 8a) has formed on an inner surface thereof a recess and said reinforcing means (10) is provided in said recess.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 26 words
The disc cartridge of claim 1 or 3 wherein said reinforcing means (10) is unitarily moulded within said coupling portion (7a, 8a) by a resin mould-process.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
The disc cartridge of claim 1 or 3 wherein said reinforcing means (10) is a metal plate layer (11) formed on a surface of said coupling portion.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 30 words
The disc cartridge of any one of the preceding claims wherein said reinforcing means is made of a material having a mechanical strength higher than that of said cartridge halves.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 21 words
The disc cartridge of any one of the preceding claims wherein said reinforcing means is formed of a metal plate-shaped member.
