Abstract

Abstract An ultrasonic surgical scalpel comprising a suction nozzle (4) having a suction mouth (4b, 14b, 24b, 34b) which is open aside toward the direction different from that of the axis (X) of the nozzle (4), and a suction regulating mouth (7) formed in a suction pipe extending from the suction nozzle (4) so as to communicate with a suction passage (4a) inside the suction nozzle. The suction mouth (4b, 14b, 24b, 34b) being open aside allows the leading end of the nozzle (4) to be made acute or round, thereby to enable the suction nozzle to be readily inserted and moved in subcutaneous or organic tissues while shattering the tissues with ultrasonic vibrations. When sucking out the tissues shattered with the vibrations, by selectively opening and closing the suction regulating mouth (7) with a finger tip, sucking force for sucking out the tissues can be freely controlled with ease.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 129 words
An ultrasonic surgical scalpel comprising a handpiece (1); an ultrasonic vibrator (2) contained within said handpiece (1), which generates ultrasonic vibrations by being applied with an alternating current; and a horn (3) formed with a suction nozzle (4), characterised in that said horn (3) is connected to said vibrator (2) and adapted to transmit the vibrations to its leading end, said suction nozzle (4) is provided at its leading end with a suction mouth (4b, 14b, 24b, 34b) open in the direction different from the axial direction (X) of the horn (3) and a suction passage (4a) thereinside, and said handpiece (1) is provided with a suction regulating mouth (7) which communicates with said suction passage (4a) inside said horn (3) and is operatable directly with a finger tip.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 129 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 53 words
An ultrasonic surgical scalpel according to claim 1, characterised in that said horn (3) is supported by a supporting member (5) at a point (Ps) substantially one-fourth wavelength (λ) of the vibration generated by the vibrator (2) away from a connection point (Pa) at which said horn (3) and vibrator (2) are connected.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
An ultrasonic surgical scalpel according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that said suction mouth (4b) is formed by cutting aslant said suction nozzle (4) to form said leading end of the suction nozzle (4).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 51 words
An ultrasonic surgical scalpel according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that said leading end of the suction nozzle (4) is covered with a slant ellipse plate in a blind state, and said suction nozzle (4) has a circumferential side surface in which said suction mouth (14b) is formed.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 51 words
An ultrasonic surgical scalpel according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that said leading end of the suction nozzle (4) is formed perpendicularly to its axis (X) in a blind state, and said suction nozzle (4) has a circumferential side surface in which said suction mouth (24b) is formed.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 45 words
An ultrasonic surgical scalpel according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the leading end of said suction nozzle (4) is in a round shape, and said suction nozzle (4) has a circumferential side surface in which said suction mouth (34b) is formed.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
