Manufacturing method of a multi-layered identification card

Abstract Translated from German Die Karte wird aus mehreren Folienschichten (2 bis 8) gebildet, welche mittels verschiedener Druck­technologien bedruckt werden. Die lichtdurchlässigen Folien (4,5) werden mittels eines digitalen Druckver­fahrens mit vorgängig digital gespeicherten kartenin­haberspezifischen Informationen bedruckt. Die Deck­folien (2,6), die Basisfolie (8) sowie weitere Folien werden sowohl digital als auch mittels herkömmlicher Druckverfahren bedruckt. Die Karte weist ferner inder Kartenebene transparente Bereiche (24) auf, welche vom Rand der Karte her optisch abtastbar sind und optische Strukturdaten bilden, die für jede Karte charakte­ristisch sind. The card is formed from several film layers (2 to 8), which are printed using various printing technologies. The translucent foils (4, 5) are printed using a digital printing process with cardholder-specific information previously stored digitally. The cover foils (2.6), the base foil (8) and further foils are printed both digitally and by means of conventional printing processes. The card also has transparent areas (24) in the plane of the card which can be optically scanned from the edge of the card and which form optical structure data which are characteristic of each card.
