Process for impregnating tobacco smoke filter fibres with polycarboxylic acid or salts thereof
Abstract
A method for impregnating fibers of a tobacco smoke filter with physiologically and sensorially harmless polycarboxylic acids or acid salts thereof, in which the polycarboxylic acids or the acid salts crystalline at ambient and processing temperatures are in the form of fine particles with a number average particle size of less than 50 µm suspended in an organic, liquid medium and the suspension obtained applied to the fibers leads to a filter material which allows an effective increase in nicotine retention without impairing the condensate yield and the tensile resistance.
