Abstract

Abstract This invention relates to an apparatus (M) for automatically supplying and selectively reproducing a tape cassette having a plurality of cassette storage compartments (1₁, 1₂,...) into which a plurality of tape cassettes (7) are accommodated, a plurality of reproducing apparatus (8₁, 8₂,...) for reproducing the plurality of tape cassettes (7), a tape cassette transporting means (2, 3, 4) comprising a first and a second cassette receiving portion (5, 6) with individual loading means (9, 10) for transporting the plurality of tape cassettes (7) from the tape cassette storage compartments (1₁, 1₂,...) to the plurality of reproducing apparatus (8₁, 8₂,...) and for transporting the plurality of tape cassettes (7) back from the plurality of reproducing apparatus (8₁, 8₂,...) to the tape cassette storage compartments (1₁, 1₂,...), respectively a control apparatus (12, 13, 14, 14K, 14M) controls at least a sequential order of reproducing the plurality of tape cassettes (7) and a sequential order of a playback mode operation of the plurality of reproducing apparatus (8₁, 8₂,...).

Apparatus comprising: a plurality of recording and/or reproducing units (8) for selectively recording and/or reproducing signals on magnetic tapes housed in respective cassettes (7); a plurality of storage compartments (1₁, 1₂, 1₃,...1 n ) for storing said cassettes (7), respectively; transporting means (2, 3, 4) for selectively transporting said cassettes (7) between said recording and/or reproducing units (8) and said storage compartments (1₁, 1₂, 1₃....1 n ), said transporting means (2, 3, 4) having a first cassette receiving portion (5), drive means (4) for moving said first cassette receiving portion (5) into selective alignment with said storage compartments (1₁, 1₂, 1₃,...1 n ) and said recording and/or reproducing units (8), and first loading means (9) for loading a cassette from one of said storage compartments or one of said recording and/or repro­ducing units (8) into said first cassette receiving portion (5); characterized in that said transporting means (2, 3, 4) have a second cassette receiving portion (6) rigidly connected with said first cassette receiving portion (5) and second loading means (10) for loading a cassette from one of said recording and/or reproducing units (8) or one of said storage compart­ments into said second cassette receiving portion (6), and said drive means (4) moves said second cassette receiving portion (6) together with said first cassette receiving portion (5).
