Abstract
Abstract An input unit (1) for an information system in a motor vehicle is proposed which contains, in addition to an alphanumerical keyboard (10), a selection field (3) with device selection keys (11) as well as a menu field (4) with cursor operating elements (14). The input unit (1) also has a speaker and microphone (22, 23) so that it can be used as a telephone receiver. Data transmission occurs in a wireless fashion to the information system via infrared-transmitting and receiving devices (20, 21). Some of the input keys can be used even when the input unit is deposited in a storage device of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
