Abstract

Abstract A source of illumination of constant color temperature and intensity including a lamp 41 the color temperature of the light from which is dependent on the power applied to the lamp 41. There is a device 154 for measuring the intensity of portions of the spectrum of the light and for providing signals indicative of those intensities. Means 174, 45 responsive to the signals adjust the power to achieve the selected color temperature. A light modulator 48 adjusts the intensity without affecting color temperature. There is a spherical mirror 46 centered on the lamp 41 and the modulator 48 is located between the lamp 41 and the mirror 46 and controls the brightness of the image of the lamp 41 formed on the lamp 41 by the spherical mirror 46.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 124 words
A source of illumination of constant color temperature and intensity, including: a generator 44 of light the color temperature of which is dependent on the power applied to the generator; a device 154 for measuring the intensity of selected portions of the spectrum of light produced by the generator 44 and for producing signals indicative of those intensities; first means 174, 45 responsive to said signals for adjusting the power applied to said generator 44, whereby a selected color temperature may be achieved; and second means 48, 174, 90 responsive to said signals for adjusting the intensity of the light emitted by the generator 44 without varying the power applied to the generator, whereby the intensity may be changed without changing the color temperature.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 124 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A source as claimed in Claim 1, wherein: said generator 44 of light includes an incandescent lamp 42 and said first means 174, 45 responsive to said signals adjusts the electrical power applied to the lamp 42.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 80 words
A source as claimed in Claim 2, wherein: said second means 48, 174, 90 for adjusting the intensity of the light produced by said generator 44 includes a spherical mirror 46, said bulb 42 being located at the center of the spherical form of said mirror 46, and a modulator 48 located between the mirror 46 and the bulb 42 for modulating the brightness of the image of the bulb 42 formed on the bulb 42 by the mirror 46.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 8 words
A source as claimed in Claim 3, wherein
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 38 words
A source as claimed in Claim 4, wherein said variable aperture modulator 48 includes two shutters 86, 88 movable towards and away from one another across the path of light from the bulb 42 to the mirror 46.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 59 words
A source as claimed in Claim 5, wherein said modulator 48 includes a stepping motor 90 for driving one of said blades 88 towards and away from the other 86 of said blades, and a lever 96 for transmitting motion from said one 88 of said blades to the other 86 of said blades but in the opposite direction.
