Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 54 words
A method of encoding an image, comprising the steps of: inputting a size of an image to be encoded; determining reference pixel positions or the number of reference pixels in accordance with an input image size; and encoding a noticed pixel by using reference pixels of the determined pixel positions or the determined number.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 54 words
A method of encoding an image, comprising the steps of: inputting a size of an image to be encoded; determining reference pixel positions or the number of reference pixels in accordance with an input image size; and encoding a noticed pixel by using reference pixels of the determined pixel positions or the determined number.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 29 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of encoding the noticed pixel comprises the step of setting encoding parameters in accordance with states of the reference pixels.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 26 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of encoding the noticed pixel comprises the step of predicting the noticed pixel from the reference pixels.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 25 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of encoding the noticed pixel comprises the step of encoding the noticed pixel by arithmetic encoding.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein the step of inputting the image comprises the step of detecting the image size.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 66 words
An apparatus of encoding an image, comprising: means for inputting a size of an image to be encoded; means for determining reference pixel positions or the number of reference pixels in accordance with an image size input from said inputting means; and means for encoding a noticed pixel by using reference pixels of the pixel positions or the number which is determined by said determining means.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 66 words
An apparatus of encoding an image, comprising: means for inputting a size of an image to be encoded; means for determining reference pixel positions or the number of reference pixels in accordance with an image size input from said inputting means; and means for encoding a noticed pixel by using reference pixels of the pixel positions or the number which is determined by said determining means.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 24 words
An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said encoding means comprises means for setting encoding parameters in accordance with states of the reference pixels.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said encoding means comprises means for predicting the noticed pixel from the reference pixels.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 20 words
An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said encoding means comprises means for encoding the noticed pixel by arithmetic encoding.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 17 words
An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said inputting means comprises means for detecting the image size.
Claim 13
Independent Claim 82 words
An apparatus for encoding an image, comprising means for forming one line of a reduced image from an image of a plurality of lines; means for storing a necessary number of lines of the reduced image from said forming means to form at least as reduced image of a next stage; means for supplying the plurality of lines of the reduced image stored in said storing means to said forming means; and means for encoding the reduced image from said forming means.
Claim 14
Independent Claim 82 words
An apparatus for encoding an image, comprising means for forming one line of a reduced image from an image of a plurality of lines; means for storing a necessary number of lines of the reduced image from said forming means to form at least as reduced image of a next stage; means for supplying the plurality of lines of the reduced image stored in said storing means to said forming means; and means for encoding the reduced image from said forming means.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 22 words
An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said forming means forms a reduced image obtained by reducing an input image input 1/2.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 15 words
An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said encoding means performs encoding by arithmetic encoding.
