Abstract

Abstract The invention is based on the object of developing a known location and navigation system for motor vehicles in such a manner that the vehicle driver is released from looking for the map sections. The object is achieved by virtue of the fact that in the mobile radio stations (M1, M2) location information corresponding to the approximate location of the mobile radio stations from the information exchanged between the mobile radio stations and the stationary radio stations (F1, F2), by means of which location information the map section relevant in each case is automatically selected. The drawing shows a block diagram of a cellular radio telephone network with stationary radio stations (F1, F2) and mobile radio stations (M1, M2). <IMAGE>

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 120 words
Mobile radio station (M1, M2), which is provided for a cellular mobile phone network (Z1, Z2), in which for each radio cell (Z1, Z2, Z3) there is provided a fixed radio station (F1, F2), there being exchanged between the fixed radio stations (F1, F2) and the mobile radio station information items from which location information identifying the approximate location of the mobile radio station (M1, M2) can be derived in the mobile radio station (M1, M2), characterized in that the mobile radio station has a location and navigation device with map support, and in that means are provided which automatically search at the mobile radio station (M1, M2) the respectively relevant map section on the basis of the location information.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 48 words
Mobile radio station according to claim 1, characterized in that in an information memory (20, 21) of the mobile radio station (M1, M2) there is stored a table which establishes the correllation between the map sections and the fixed station numbers of the fixed radio stations (F1, F2).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
Mobile radio station according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the selecting of the relevant map section takes place when the mobile radio station (M1, M2) is switched on.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 48 words
Mobile radio station according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the selecting of the map sections at the mobile radio stations (M1, M2) takes place by continuous comparison of the location there stored in the information memory (20) with the incoming location information items.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 43 words
Mobile radio station according to claim 2, characterized in that with every reception of a new fixed station number of a fixed radio station (F2) the map section belonging to the new fixed station number is selected and indicated in the display (24).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 29 words
Mobile radio station according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the map sections are stored by means of laser signal storage on a compact disc.
