Abstract

Abstract A pair of bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2) are mounted on a rotary drum (DR) and each bimorph leaf (BM1, BM2) includes four reproducing heads (P(A1),...P(D2)). A pair of recording head means, each of said means including two recording heads (R(A),...R(D)), are provided so that four record heads are used to form twelve tracks (A1,...) during three times of rotation of the rotary drum (DR) in one field period in a case of PAL television signal recording mode. The eight reproducing heads (P(A1),...P(D2)) are used to scan said twelve tracks so that the twelve tracks can be scanned within two times of rotation of the rotary drum (DR). In a case of recording and reproducing an NTSC television signal, the rotary drum (DR) rotates two times and a half during one field period of the NTSC signal so that the four record heads form ten tracks per field period. Eight reproducing heads are also used to scan the ten tracks in a same manner. Such arrangement of the record and reproducing heads makes a moving distance of the pair of bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2) reduced in a reproducing mode, the tape speed of which is different from that of the recording mode.

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 284 words
An apparatus for reproducing video and audio signals recorded digitally in successive parallel tracks (A1, B1...) on a record tape (T) while the latter is advanced at a predetermined speed in a direction (t) at an angle to the direction along said tracks (A1, B1,...), said apparatus comprising: (a) a rotary drum (DR); (b) first transducing means mounted on said rotary drum (DR) for recording the video and audio signals in a digital form on said record tape (T), said first transducing means including a pair of recording head means (R(A), R(B),...) which are mounted at an opposed position to each other on said rotary drum (DR) so that one field signal of the video and audio signals is formed by a plurality of parallel tracks; (c) a pair of bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2) each of which is mounted at an opposed position on said rotary drum (DR); and (d) second transducing means mounted on said pair of bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2) for scanning said parallel tracks (A1, B1,...), said second transducing means including pairs of reproducing heads (P(A1), P(B1);...) one pair of which being mounted on each of said bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2), so that said pairs of reproducing heads (P(A1), P(B1);...) can be deflected by said pair of bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2) in a direction transverse to the direction (h) along the tracks (A1, B1,...), when the tape (T) speed of the reproducing mode is different from the same of the recording mode, wherein the number of said pairs of reproducing heads (P(A1),P(B1);...) is larger than that of said pairs of recording head means (R(A),...) so that a total moving distance of said pair of bimorph leaves (BM1, BM2) can be reduced.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
The apparatus according to claim 1, in which each of said pair of recording head means includes two recording heads (R(A), R(B); R(C), R(D)).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, in which each of said pairs of reproducing heads includes four reproducing heads (P(A1),...(P(D2); P(C1),...P(B2).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 54 words
The apparatus according to claim 3, in which said rotary drum (DR) rotates three times during said one field period so that twelve parallel video and audio tracks (A1, B1,...) are formed on said record tape (T) by said four recording heads (R(A), R(B), R(C), R(D)) in a recording mode of PAL television signal.
