Claim 2

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with a terminals of a receiving party based on said discriminated paper size; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

Claim 3

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; identifying means for identifying the type of document based on said discriminated paper size; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with a terminal of a receiving party based on said identified document type; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

Claim 4

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; identifying means for identifying the type of document based on said discriminated paper size; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with a terminal of a receiving party based on said identified document type; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

Claim 5

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; verifying means for verifying a function of a terminal of a receiving party based on said discriminated paper size; deciding means for deciding paper size at time of transmission based on said verified terminals function; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with the terminal of said receiving party based on said decided paper size; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

Claim 6

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; verifying means for verifying a function of a terminal of a receiving party based on said discriminated paper size; deciding means for deciding paper size at time of transmission based on said verified terminals function; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with the terminal of said receiving party based on said decided paper size; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; identifying means for identifying the type of document based on said discriminated paper size: verifying means for verifying a function of a terminal of a receiving party based on said identified document type; deciding means for deciding document type at time of transmission based on said verified terminal function; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with the terminal of said receiving party based on said decided document type; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

A communication processing apparatus comprising: discriminating means for discriminating the paper size of a transmission document; identifying means for identifying the type of document based on said discriminated paper size: verifying means for verifying a function of a terminal of a receiving party based on said identified document type; deciding means for deciding document type at time of transmission based on said verified terminal function; negotiating means for negotiating attributes of a transmission image with the terminal of said receiving party based on said decided document type; and transmitting means for transmitting image data of said transmission document to the terminal of said receiving party based on said negotiated attributes.

The apparatus according to claim 1 or claim 3, wherein said discriminating means has a table of paper sizes.

Claim 12

The apparatus according to claim 2 or claim 4, wherein said discriminating means and said identifying means employ a document information table of paper sizes and corresponding document types.

Claim 13

The apparatus according to claim 7 or claim 8, wherein said table includes paper sizes other than paper sizes stipuiated by the CCITT.

Claim 14

The apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the paper sizes other than those stipulated include legal size and leisure size.

Claim 15

The apparatus according to claim 7 or claim 8, wherein said paper size is expressed in bit management units.

Claim 18

The apparatus according to claim 2 or claim 4, wherein said attributes include document type and resolution.

Claim 19

The apparatus according to claim 3 or claim 4, wherein said verifying means includes determination means for determining whether the paper size discriminated by said discriminating means is capable of being transmitted, and said deciding means include modifying means for changing paper size at time of transmission to a paper size possessed by the terminal of said receiving party in a case where said determination means determines that transmission is not possible.

Claim 20

The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said verifying means inciudes determination means for determining whether the paper size discriminated by said discriminating means is capable of being transmitted, and said deciding means includes designating means for instructing the terminal of said receiving party to add a reception function for receiving said identified paper size in a case where said determination means determines that transmission is not possible.

Claim 21

The apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said verifying means includes determination means for determining whether the document type identified by said identifying means is capable of being transmitted, and said deciding means includes designating means for instructing the terminal of said receiving party to add a reception function for receiving said identified document type in a case where said determination means determines that transmission is not possible.

Claim 22

Apparatus for transmitting data in pages, which prior to transmitting the data, transmits information indicative of the page size for the data to be transmitted, and in response to a received indication, sent by a data receiving apparatus, of the page size in which data can be received, determines the page size to be used in transmitting the data.

Apparatus for transmitting data in pages, which prior to transmitting the data, transmits information indicative of the page size for the data to be transmitted, and in response to a received indication, sent by a data receiving apparatus, of the page size in which data can be received, determines the page size to be used in transmitting the data.

Apparatus for receiving data in pages which, in response to received information indicative of the page size of data to be transmitted, determines an appropriate page size in which it can receive the data and transmits information indicative of the determined page size.
