Abstract

Abstract A control method for valve-timing changeover in an engine in which valve timing for at least each one of intake valves or exhaust valves can be changed over between a low-speed valve timing suitable for a low-speed revolution range of the engine and a high-speed valve timing suitable for a high-speed revolution range of the engine, said method comprising steps of: comparing an engine output obtained with the low-speed valve timing to an engine output obtained with the high-speed valve timing; and changing over the valve timing through said comparison.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 90 words
A control method for valve-timing changeover in an engine in which valve timing for at least each one of intake valves or exhaust valves can be changed over between a low-speed valve timing suitable for a low-speed revolution range of the engine and a high-speed valve timing suitable for a high-speed revolution range of the engine, said method comprising steps of: comparing an engine output obtained with the low-speed valve timing to an engine output obtained with the high-speed valve timing; and changing over the valve timing through said comparison.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 90 words
A control method for valve-timing changeover in an engine in which valve timing for at least each one of intake valves or exhaust valves can be changed over between a low-speed valve timing suitable for a low-speed revolution range of the engine and a high-speed valve timing suitable for a high-speed revolution range of the engine, said method comprising steps of: comparing an engine output obtained with the low-speed valve timing to an engine output obtained with the high-speed valve timing; and changing over the valve timing through said comparison.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 30 words
A control method for valve-timing changeover in an engine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the valve timing is changed over when said two outputs substantially coincide with each other.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 133 words
A control method for valve-timing changeover in an engine in which the engine is an electronically controlled fuel injection type, valve timing for at least each one of intake valves or exhaust valves can be changed over between a low-speed valve timing suitable for a low-speed revolution range of the engine and a high-speed valve timing suitable for a high-speed revolution range of the engine, and a fuel injection quantity is preset for each of said low-speed valve timing and high-speed valve timing so that said preset fuel injection quantity may be selected according to the pertinent valve timing selected, said method comprising steps of: comparing the fuel injection quantity preset for the low-speed valve timing with that preset for the high-speed valve timing; and changing over the valve timing through said comparison.
Claim 5
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 26 words
A control method as claimed in claim 3, wherein the valve timing is changed over when both the fuel injection quantities substantially coincide with each other.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 56 words
A control method as claimed in claim 3 or 4, wherein there is provided a confirmation means to confirm changeover of the valve timing and, when the changeover is not confirmed, there is continued the fuel injection providing the fuel injection quantity set to conform to the valve timing selected prior to the new changeover instruction.
