Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 41 words
A skin- or hair-care composition comprising at least 0.5% w/w silica, a C₂₋₄ alkyl ester of a di-, tri- or tetrabasic carboxylic acid or hydroxycarboxylic acid, wherein the hydroxy residue is optionally acetylated, and, optionally, an inert diluent or carrier therefor.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 41 words
A skin- or hair-care composition comprising at least 0.5% w/w silica, a C₂₋₄ alkyl ester of a di-, tri- or tetrabasic carboxylic acid or hydroxycarboxylic acid, wherein the hydroxy residue is optionally acetylated, and, optionally, an inert diluent or carrier therefor.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A skin- or hair-care composition comprising a silica, and a C₂₋₄ alkyl ester of a di-, tri- or tetrabasic carboxylic acid or hydroxycarboxylic acid, wherein the hydroxy residue is optionally acetylated, dissolved in an aqueous solvent system.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
A skin- or hair-care composition comprising a silica, and a C₂₋₄ alkyl ester of a di-, tri- or tetrabasic carboxylic acid or hydroxycarboxylic acid, wherein the hydroxy residue is optionally acetylated, dissolved in an aqueous solvent system.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 12 words
A composition according to claim 2, comprising at least 0.5% w/w silica.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
A composition according to claim 2 or 3, wherein the aqueous solvent system is an aqueous lower alkanol or water.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 14 words
A composition according to claim 4, wherein the aqueous solvent system is aqueous ethanol.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 29 words
A composition according to any preceding claim, wherein the alkyl ester is selected from ethyl and butyl, and/or the polybasic acid is selected from citric, tartaric and succinic acids.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 27 words
A composition according to claim 6, wherein the ester is selected from triethyl citrate, acetyl triethyl citrate, tributyl citrate, acetyl tributyl citrate, diethyl tartrate and diethyl succinate.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 30 words
A composition according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the silica has a mean particle size of 0.1 to 20µ, the particles consisting of aggregates of smaller particles.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 22 words
A composition according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the ester: silica ratio is at least 1:1, preferably about 2:1.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 22 words
A composition according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the silica is a hydrophobic silica such as silanised silica gel.
