Abstract

Abstract In order to rewrite only part of a program input through the electric contact of an IC card, sent from a terminal device to the IC card are information for managing the memory area for storing the program in a manner of dividing it into plural sub-areas (7a, 7b ...) as well as numbers for discriminating the sub-areas. In response to the demand of changing part of the program, sent from the terminal device are the sub-area number corresponding to the sub-area including the portion to be rewritten as well as a program part for the sub-area. A processor (3) for the IC card rewrites the program of the sub-area to be changed, referring to an attribute information table (6) in which said sub-area discrimination information and said management information are stored in combination.

Claim 2
Dependent Claim 169 words
In an IC card in which embedded are an input/output port (2) for inputting the program to be down-loaded in the IC card and outputting its processing result in the IC card; main storage for storing data and programs (5); and a processor for sending the program input from the input/output port (2) to said main storage (5), a method for rewriting the program stored in the IC card using a terminal device, on which the IC card is mounted, communicating with said processor through said input/output port (2), comprising the steps of: dividing into sub-areas the storage area (7) of the program stored in said main storage through said input/output port and said processor; sending, to the IC card, management information for the respective sub-areas and codes for discriminating the sub-areas, in combination; and in accordance with the rewrite demand of the program in said main storage, sending to the IC card the discrimination information corresponding to the code of the sub-area and a program part for rewrite.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 60 words
A method for rewriting the program in an IC card according to claim 1 further comprising selecting, on the basis of said discrimination, one set from plural sets of the base addresses and the numbers of bytes in combination with said codes for discriminating the sub-areas, and storing said program for rewrite in the sub-area decided by said one set.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 71 words
A method for rewriting the program in an IC card according to claim 2, further comprising the step of when the program part for rewrite exceeds the capacity of the sub-area where an original program part has been stored, providing from the terminal device an instruction of jumping the address to at least one vacant sub-area in the main storage and thereafter jumping to the sub-area where the original program part.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
A method for rewriting the program in an IC card according to claim 1, wherein the memory capacity of the sub-areas is fixed to 32 bytes.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 47 words
A method for rewriting the program in an IC card according to claim 2, further comprising the step of ceasing the address updating of a card reader/writer, which is connected with said terminal device and produces programs, at the end address of the sub-area to be rewritten.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 141 words
An IC card comprising an input/output port (2) for down-loading data and programs for data processing; main storage (5) for the data and the programs; and a processor for sending the data and programs input from said input/output port to said main storage, further comprising management information storage (6), which is a non-volatile memory, for storing, in combination, items of management information for divisionally managing the programs stored in the main storage on the basis of a predetermined number of bytes, and items of discrimination information of discriminating said items of management information, said processor comprising means (Fig. 5) for selecting, on the basis of the discrimination information, one of the items of discrimination information in said management information storage (6), thereby storing a partial program part input from said input/output port at a memory location of said main storage (5).
Claim 8
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 31 words
An IC card according to claim 6, wherein said selecting means (Fig. 5) includes means for comparing said input discrimination information with the code information stored in said management information storage.
