Abstract

Abstract The invention provides an information memory apparatus comprising a device for loading a cartridge (3) internally holding an information-recording medium (2), an opposing member (48-51) directly facing the information-recording medium at least in a recording mode, and a device (43) for transferring the opposing member. When inserting the cartridge into the information memory apparatus, the cartridge-loading device (17) transfers the cartridge at least in the direction of the thickness of the cartridge, and then, the transfer device transfers the opposing memeber positined outside of an extended space in the direction of the thickness of the cartridge to a position at which the opposing member directly faces the information recording medium inside of the extended space in the direction of the thickness of the cartridge.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 158 words
An information memory apparatus comprising: cartridge-loading means for loading a cartridge internally holding an information-recording medium to be inserted into said apparatus to a predetermined position inside of said apparatus by transferring said cartridge at least in a direction of the thickness of said cartridge perpendicularly in a cartridge-inserting direction; opposing means which is positioned to oppose to said information-recording medium at least in a recording mode and holds its position outside of an extended space extended in the direction of the thickness of said cartridge when said cartridge is inserted into said information memory apparatus; and transfer means for transferring said opposing means to the position opposing to said information-recording medium inside of the extended space in the direction of the thickness of said cartridge after said cartridge-loading means has completed a transfer of said cartridge at least in the direction of the thickness of said cartridge to the predetermined position inside of said information memory means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 158 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
An information memory apparatus as set forth in Claim 1, further comprising a rotary cam for interlocking said cartridge-loading means with said transfer means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 98 words
An information memory apparatus as set forth in Claim 2, wherein said rotary cam comprises a first cam follower urged in a direction toward the center of said rotary cam, a first cam corresponding to said first cam follower, a second cam follower urged in a direction toward the circumference of said rotary cam, and a second cam corresponding to said second cam follower and sharing a cam groove with said first cam, one of said first cam follower and second cam follower being connected with said cartridge-loading means and the other being connected with said transfer means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
An information memory apparatus as set forth in Claim 1, wherein said opposing means comprises a magnetic-field-generating means.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
An information memory apparatus as set forth in Claim 1, wherein said opposing means comprises a clamping means for clamping said information recording medium.
