Electron beam-measuring apparatus
Abstract
Conventional beam blanking systems are capable of generating electron pulses with a minimum width of approximately 100 to 200 ps. A reduction in the pulse width to a few 10 picoseconds is possible in principle, but would lead to a considerable increase in measuring times due to the associated reduction in the probe current. It is therefore proposed to additionally flange-mount a photocathode (PK) exposed to a pulsed laser beam (LA) to the column of an electron beam measuring device and to stigmatically image the photoelectron source with the aid of a focusing deflection unit (SFM) on the beam axis (OA1). A sector field magnet is particularly suitable as a focusing deflection unit (SFM).
