Abstract

Abstract An eye movement testing apparatus has a mask (1) or goggles type device with a seal or shutter (6) piece flexibly contacts the face and head of the patient for forming a darkroom before the eyes of the patient, an infrared radiating means (2) to irradiate the eyes of the patient and a television camera (5) for detecting infrared light and outputting image signals of eye movement of the patient. Reflection plates (8b) to reflect and disperse infrared light and illuminate the eye of the patient and targets (3) comprised of visible light sources for irradiating visible light on the eyes of the patient may be arranged inside the mask or goggles.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 98 words
An eye movement testing device, comprising a mask or goggles provided with a seal or shutter piece to flexibly contact the face and head of the patient for shutting out visible light entry to the eye of the patient, thereby forming a darkroom before the eyes of the patient, and comprising a head-mounting provision, wherein an infrared radiating means is established to irradiate the eyes of the patient and a television camera for detecting infrared light is mounted so that its optical axis faces the patient, whereby said camera outputs image signals of eye movement of the patient.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 98 words
An eye movement testing device, comprising a mask or goggles provided with a seal or shutter piece to flexibly contact the face and head of the patient for shutting out visible light entry to the eye of the patient, thereby forming a darkroom before the eyes of the patient, and comprising a head-mounting provision, wherein an infrared radiating means is established to irradiate the eyes of the patient and a television camera for detecting infrared light is mounted so that its optical axis faces the patient, whereby said camera outputs image signals of eye movement of the patient.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 32 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claim 1, wherein reflection plates to reflect and disperse infrared light and illuminate the eye of the patient are established in the goggles.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 32 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claims 1 or 2, wherein targets comprised of visible light sources for irradiating visible light on the eyes of the patient are established.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 39 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claim 3, wherein the infrared radiating piece, infrared detecting television camera, reflection plates, and targets are all established as pairs corresponding to the left and right eyes of the patient.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 97 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claim 4, wherein a pair of mobile eyepiece parts corresponding to the left and right eyes of the patient are each formed by the infrared radiating piece, the infrared detecting television camera, the reflection plates, and targets as a unit, and while the optical axes of the television cameras face the eyes of the patient, the mobile eyepiece parts are established to be adjustable by the optical-axis adjustment device horizontally in the direction of the eye width, vertically, and in the ocular-axis direction relative to the patient's eyes.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claims 1 through 5, wherein the infrared radiating piece is an infrared light-emitting diode (LED).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 40 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claims 3 through 6, wherein the targets consist of multiple visible-light emitting diodes (LEDs) with display switching enabled are located on a spherical surface centered at the center of eye rotation.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 70 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claim 7, wherein the targets are established in a cross shape vertically and horizontally from the intersection of targets on the ocular axes, hence on a reflection plate with a prescribed shape, the reflection surfaces being spherical surfaces, and wherein the optical axis of the television camera is positioned in proximity to said intersection targets and projecting through the reflection plate.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 24 words
An eye movement testing device within the scope of claims 1 through 8, wherein the head-mounting provision for the goggles is an air band.
