Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 183 words
A recording system for recording information, comprising a record carrier of an inscribable type and a recording apparatus comprising write means for recording applied information on the record carrier, in which the record carrier is preconditioned with a control-information pattern indicating for which type(s) of information the relevant record carrier is intended, and the recording apparatus comprises means for reading the control information represented by the control-information pattern, test means for detecting the type of information applied, and control means for controlling the recording process in such a way that the applied information is recorded only if the detected type of information corresponds to a type indicated by the control information being read, characterized in that the record carrier is provided with a preformed or prerecorded servo track, the control-information pattern taking the form of a preformed or prerecorded track modulation of the servo track, in that the recording apparatus comprises means for scanning the servo track, and in that the read means include means for detecting the track modulation during scanning and for deriving the control information from the detected track modulation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 183 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 51 words
A system as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that the recording apparatus comprises at least one input stage for receiving the information to be recorded, and in that the test means are adapted to detect the type of applied information on the basis of the type of input stage used.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 60 words
A system as claimed in Claim 2, characterized in that the recording apparatus comprises at least two input stages for receiving the information of two different types, and selection means for selecting one of the input stages, and in that the test means are adapted to detect the type of: applied information on the basis of the selected input stage.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 29 words
A system as claimed in Claim 1 to 3, characterized in that the record carrier is of an erasable type, the preconditioning control-information pattern being of a non-erasable type.
Claim 6
