Abstract

Abstract A method for controlling a respirator, in which a setting selected according to patient data is, for optimisation, to be changed after a time of action, is characterised in that a first simulation unit (6) (model of the respirator) which reproduces the characteristic values of the respirator (2) and a second simulation unit (7) (patient model) which reproduces the patient parameters from the patient data are connected to the respirator (2) in such a manner that the new setting envisaged is carried out first of all on the first simulation unit (6) with unchanged setting of the respirator (2), that the resulting output values of the first simulation unit are combined with the patient data of the second simulation unit (7) in such a manner that the effect of the changed setting on the patient can be derived as simulated new patient data and that switching of the respirator to the new setting can take place by means of a control command (4). …<IMAGE>…
