Abstract
Abstract An implant capsule for insertion into a human or animal body canal to apply radiation treatment to a selected portion of the body canal or a part of the body adjacent to the canal. The device includes a body member (12) defining at least one therapeutic treatment material receiving chamber (14) and at least one resilient arm member (18) associated with the body member for removably engaging with the body canal when the device is positioned therein.

A device for applying a therapeutic treatment to a selected portion of a human or animal body for a predetermined period of time comprising: a body member (12) (42) (72) defining at least one elongate therapeutic treatment material receiving chamber (14); at least one resilient arm member (18) (48) (76) co-operatively associated with said body member and extending radially outwardly therefrom, the or each arm member being adapted to be compressed radially inwardly during transportation of the device to the portion of the body requiring therapeutic treatment and then released so as to allow the arm member to return to its outwardly extending position in order to engage with the body portion so as to be located for applying the therapeutic treatment.
