Surgical staple for skin suturing and tool therefor
Abstract
Abstract The present invention relates to a surgical staple for skin suturing, which consists of a piece of wire made of a rigid but deformable material, in particular metal, which is symmetrical relative to a plane and ends in two points (1i) and has, in the open state, a sinuous shape. <??>In order to limit the penetration of the points (1i) and to improve the distribution of the pressure over the different layers of the skin, the staple comprises successively, starting from the centre of the staple and on each side of the plane of symmetry (xy) of the staple, a rectilinear branch (1b, 5a), a first bend (1c) whose concavity is directed towards the skin in which the staple is to be engaged, a second intermediate bend (1e, 5e) whose convexity is directed towards the skin, and a third bend (5g) whose concavity is directed towards the skin, this third bend (1g, 5g) continuing via an outer leg (1h, 5h) which ends in the point (1i, 5i) of the staple and which is inclined at an angle of approximately 45 DEG relative to the general direction of extension of the staple (1, 5). <IMAGE>
