Abstract
Abstract Method of transmitting data information in a mobile, cellular, radio communication system operating according to the TDMA principle. Within certain large cells (C2) in the system the number of cells in progress is less than the number of slots (CH1, CH2...) in each frame, where these slots have been allotted to the mobiles (M1) within the cell. The unoccupied slots thus occuring are utilised in accordance with the method such that the bit frequency (f) of the data information is reduced to a new value (f r ) in response to the number of unoccupied time slots. The transmission range between mobile and base station is thus increased.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
204 words
Method in transmitting data information in a mobile, cellular, radio communication system, which transmits the information according to the time-division multiple access (TDMA) principle, and with a given bit frequency in frames (R1, R2...) each containing time slots (CH1, CH2...) carrying said data information for the calls, and where the utilisation of capacity in a given cell (C2) in the system is such that the number of slots in every frame is greater than the greatest number of calls in progress between the mobile stations (M1) in the cell (C2) and a base station (B2) associated with the cell (C2), characterized in that in the communication direction mobile-base station (B2) m ( m >1) slots are allotted to a mobile within the cell (C2) and in each frame, one slot of said slots constituting the slot normally allotted to the mobile, and at least one of the (m-1) remaining slots in the frame being utilised in response to the distance of the mobile from the base station (B2) by the bit frequency of the data information from the mobile (MS) to the base station (BS) being reduced to a new value (f r ), which is responsive to the number m of allotted slots.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
43 words
Method as claimed in claim 1 characterized in that the m (m>1) slots allotted to a mobile (M1) in the cell (C2) are placed consecutively in the associated frame (R) and in that the bit frequency (f) is reduced by a factor 1/m.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
48 words
Method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the m slots allotted to a mobile (M1) in the cell (C2) do not follow one upon the other in the frame (R), but are interleaved with occupied slots which are allotted to other mobiles in the cell (C2).
