Abstract

Abstract An electronic thermometer having a function for estimating the temperature to be detected at a future time. The thermometer has a predetermined estimation functional equation in which a predetermined coefficient parameter to be overlapped on a thermometry curve has an unknown value. The thermometer further stores the temperature data obtained by detecting the temperature of a living body in relation to the passage of time after the measurement is started, and reads a plurality of temperature data according to a predetermined method as the measurement proceeds. The thermometer performs the regression analysis based upon a plurality of said estimation functional equations using the read-out temperature data as an object variable and the function of time data related of the temperature data as an explanation variable, or solves a simultaneous equation constituted by a plurality of said estimation functional equations, thereby setting a value of the coefficient parameter. The temperature to be detected at a future time is operated by estimation from said estimation functional equation specified by the value of the above-set coefficient parameter.
