Charge transfer device for processing analogous data blocks
Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to the block-processing of analog data. It relates in particular to image processing. It is desired for example to process each pixel through convolution of the neighbouring pixels of a block of 5 x 5 pixels with a convolution kernel. Use is made of delay lines in the form of charge-transfer shift registers and of charge-transfer filters with isolated electrodes. To save space, the invention proposes to perform a filtering of the type with isolated electrodes by isolating certain electrodes from the shift registers themselves. For example, the image to be processed comprises lines of P dots and the shift registers are P stage registers. Among these P stages, use will be made of 5 electrodes (since the processing of 5 x 5 blocks is involved) which will be isolated and connected to the inputs of an amplifier (AMP). It is also possible to provide for several different convolutions on a single integrated-circuit chip by using other electrodes of the registers and by connecting these other electrodes to other amplifiers. <IMAGE>
