Abstract

Abstract A suction cleaner includes a suction chamber (3), a dust chamber (1) communicating with the suction chamber (3), the dust chamber (1) including an agitator or vaned rotor (5) having first blades (5a), to which a second blade (6a) (13a) is presented so as to shred the refuse into small pieces. The second blade (6a) (13a) is retractable from an operative position to an inoperative position wherein the second blade (6a) (13a) is remote from the first blades (5a).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 51 words
A suction cleaner comprising a dust chamber (1) into which, in use, refuse is drawn by suction, agitator means (5) mounted for movement within the dust chamber, and at least one blade (6a) arranged for cooperation with the agitator means to shred refuse and to be retractable to an inoperative position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 51 words
A suction cleaner comprising a dust chamber (1) into which, in use, refuse is drawn by suction, agitator means (5) mounted for movement within the dust chamber, and at least one blade (6a) arranged for cooperation with the agitator means to shred refuse and to be retractable to an inoperative position.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 47 words
A cleaner according to claim 1 wherein the agitator means comprises a vaned rotor (5) rotation of which generates suction by which refuse is drawn into the dust chamber (1), the vanes of the rotor having edges co-operating with the retractable blade (6a) in its operative position.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 162 words
A suction cleaner comprising a dust chamber (1), a suction chamber (3) communicating with the dust chamber (1) so that a sucked refuse is introduced into the dust chamber (1), and outlet duct (2) tangentially conneted to the dust chamber (1) for discharging refuse from the dust chamber (1), agitator means (5) mounted on a rotatable shaft (4) extending into the dust chamber (1) and presenting first blades (5a) on the inner side thereof, a second blade (6a) (13a) formed in a shank (6) provided in the suction chamber (3), the shank (6) being retractable from an operative position in which the second blade (6a) (13a) is presented to the first blades (5a) with such a gap as to shred the refuse therebetween, to an inoperative position at which the second blade (6a) (13a) is remote from the first blades (5a), and drive means connected to the shaft for rotating the agitator means (5) and producing suction within the suction chamber (3).
Claim 5
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 27 words
A cleaner according to claim 3, wherein the shank (6) is retained either at the operative position or the inoperative position by means of springs (10) (11).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A cleaner according to claim 3, wherein the first blades (5a) and the second blade (6a) (13a) are arranged obliquely parallel with each other.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 20 words
A cleaner according to claim 3, wherein the drive means with a battery is mounted within the suction chamber (3).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 31 words
A cleaner according to claim 3, wherein the suction chamber (3) comprises a window (3b) in which the shank (6) is provided, the window (3b) being covered by covers (7) (8).
