Er weist eine Katheterleitung (11) auf, auf der ein durch Druck­fluid aufweitbarer, flexibler Ballon (12) axial un­verrückbar angeordnet ist. Der Ballon (12) weist einen Flechtschlauch (15) auf, der mit mindestens einem fluidumsdichten elastischen Mantel (16, 17) ver­sehen ist. Der Flechtschlauch (15) ist aus zwei gegenläufigen Fadenscharen (21, 22) aus elastomeren Fäden geflochten. In dieses Geflecht sind in Axial­richtung des Flechtschlauches verlaufende Stränge (23, 23′) aus Hochmodulfasern so eingeflochten, daß der einzelne Strang (23; 23′) über den Fäden der einen Fadenschar und unter den Fäden der anderen Fadenschar verläuft. Die Länge des aufweitbaren Bereiches des Ballons (12) beträgt mindestens das 4-fache des maximalen Außendurchmessers dieses Ballonbereiches in unaufgeweitetem Zustand.
