Abstract

Abstract A conical tool in the form of a drill or in particular in the form of a reamer is described in which cutting ribs (12) and chip grooves (14) are alternately arranged along the periphery of the tool (10). In order to avoid torsional vibrations of the tool (10) during operational use, it is proposed to arrange the cutting ribs (12) in a non-uniformly distributed manner along the periphery of the tool (10) and/or to design the cutting ribs (12) with rake angles (s) different from one another and/or with clearance angles (f) different from one another and/or if need be to dimension the cutting ribs (12) with helical pitches different from one another. <IMAGE>
