Transfer path for optical radiation and its applications
Abstract
A transmission path for optical radiation is disclosed with at least one optical fiber with core and cladding. The core consists of glassy, synthetic silicon dioxide, the jacket of glassy, synthetic silicon dioxide doped with boron oxide and / or fluorine. The fiber is essentially cooled over its entire length to a temperature below 220 k for the transmission of optical radiation in the wavelength range from 160 to 300 nm. Such transmission links are used in spectroscopy, in the fields of material processing, medicine and chemical process technology as well as for biological purposes.
