Abstract

Abstract An RDS receiver has a controller means (14) for determining when no RDS broadcasting wave can be received by the receiver at the present received frequency thereof for one of plural broadcasting stations constituting a network and also that a change of the present received frequency to the frequency of another one of the broadcasting stations, which is given by the AF data on the network of stations, has not been completed. The means (14) provides an indication of this to the listener of the receiver if such determination is made.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 117 words
An RDS receiver for receiving an RDS broadcast signal carrying network station frequency data, characterised in that: the RDS receiver has the function of following a program in which a controlling means (14) determines if an RDS broadcast signal is received by the receiver at the present received frequency thereof for one of plural broadcasting stations constituting a network; the controlling means determines if a change of the present received frequency to the frequency of another one of the broadcasting stations, which is stored in memory has been completed; and the controlling means (14) provides an indication to the listener of the receiver when the reception state has deteriorated and the change of frequency has been completed.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 117 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
An RDS receiver according to claim 1, wherein the controlling means (14) performs a seeking action as soon as the making of the indication to automatically choose a broadcasting station of the same data.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
An RDS receiver according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the controlling means (14) monitors whether or not the received signal level is lower than a predetermined reference level.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 103 words
A method of controlling an RDS receiver capable of receiving an RDS broadcast signal carrying network station frequency data and which has the function of following a program comprising the steps of: determining if the state of reception of the broadcast signal at the present received frequency of the receiver has deteriorated; determining if a change of the present received frequency to the frequency of another one of the broadcasting stations, which is stored in memory, has been completed; and providing an indication to the listener of the receiver when the reception state has deteriorated and the change of frequency has been completed.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 103 words
A method of controlling an RDS receiver capable of receiving an RDS broadcast signal carrying network station frequency data and which has the function of following a program comprising the steps of: determining if the state of reception of the broadcast signal at the present received frequency of the receiver has deteriorated; determining if a change of the present received frequency to the frequency of another one of the broadcasting stations, which is stored in memory, has been completed; and providing an indication to the listener of the receiver when the reception state has deteriorated and the change of frequency has been completed.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 33 words
A method according to claim 4, further comprising the step of performing a seeking action as soon as the making of the indication to automatically choose a broadcasting station of the same data.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
A method according to claim 4 or claim 5, wherein the RDS receiver monitors whether or not a received signal level is lower than a reference level.
