Abstract

Abstract A steering mechanism for toy building sets, such as toy vehicles, and of the type comprising a rack means and a pinion cooperating with it. In connection with various possible positions of the rack means and likewise with a view to selective positioning of the pinion cooperating with it, the toothed region of the rack means is provided wholly or partly around the longitudinal axis of the rack means, the rack means being integral with a pair of steering rods which are provided with coupling means.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
A steering mechanism for toy building sets, such as toy vehicles, and of the type comprising a rack means (12) and a pinion (10) adapted to cooperate with this, characterized in that the rack means (12) has teeth which extend transversely to and are curved at least partly around the longitudinal direction of the rack means, and that said means is made integrally with steering rods (13) extending from each end and provided with coupling means (14).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 77 words
A steering mechanism for toy building sets, such as toy vehicles, and of the type comprising a rack means (12) and a pinion (10) adapted to cooperate with this, characterized in that the rack means (12) has teeth which extend transversely to and are curved at least partly around the longitudinal direction of the rack means, and that said means is made integrally with steering rods (13) extending from each end and provided with coupling means (14).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 35 words
A steering mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that each of the steering rods projecdting from the ends of the rack means forms an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the rack means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 56 words
A steering mechanism according to claims 1-2, characterized in that it further includes a bushing means (5) with a substantially cylinder-shaped part which is adapted to slidably receive the rack means, and that the pinion is journalled in bracket means (7 and 8) which are secured to the cylinder-shaped part for cooperation with the rack means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 22 words
A steering mechanism according to claims 1-3, characterized in that the bushing means is rotatably journalled in a steering gear housing (1).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 56 words
A steering gear mechanism according to claims 1-4, characterized in that the bushing means rotatably journalled in the steering gear housing is provided wholly or partly with a corrugation (5) on its outer face disposed between the bracket means, said corrugation being adapted to slidable engagement with a flexible tongue means provided on the steering housing.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A steering mechanism according to claims 1-5, characterized in that the toothed region extends in the entire periphery of the rack.
