Abstract

Abstract In a television receiver with a device for suppressing flicker disturbances in the reproduced television picture, in which the vertical frequency during the reproduction is increased compared with the vertical frequency during the transmission, transmitted video signals are converted into video signals to be reproduced with increased vertical frequency as a function of the presence of essentially horizontal edges in accordance with a first or in accordance with a second method. The first method gives preference to the reproduction of movements and the second method gives preference to the reproduction of horizontal edges. <IMAGE>
