Abstract

Abstract A line connection switching apparatus (10) performs connection switching of a communication line (12) used both for speech communication performed by a telephone set (14) and data communication performed by a facsimile apparatus (16) and is inserted between the telephone set (14) and the facsimile apparatus (16), and the communication line (12). When predetermined speech command information is input from a caller side through the communication line (12), a speech signal is detected by a switching unit (18). When a voice/silence discriminator (20) discriminates that the speech signal represents voice′ a voice interval monitor (22) monitors a duration of the speech signal. If the duration of the speech signal falls within a predetermined range, the speech signal is stored in a speech signal storage unit (24). A pattern matching unit (26) verifies whether a standard speech pattern of a speech signal registered in standard pattern dictionary unit (28) matches with a speech pattern of the input speech signal stored in the speech signal storage unit (24). In accordance with a verification result, if the speech pattern of the input speech signal coincides with the standard pattern, the switching unit (18) switches connection of the communication line (12) to the facsimile apparatus (16).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 117 words
A line connection switching apparatus comprising means for detecting a duration of a speech signal input after start of communication through a communication line used both for speech communication and data communication, recognizing means for recognizing the speech signal, whether the duration of the speech signal falls within a predetermined range and recognizing the speech signal, and means for selecting an apparatus to be connected to said communication line in accordance with a result obtained by said recognizing means, characterized in that said recognizing means (24, 26, 28) recognizes the speech signal having the length falling within the predetermined range and recognizing the speech signal when the duration of the speech signal falls within the predetermined range.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 117 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 39 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said recognizing means (24, 26, 28) verifies whether the speech signal input after communication is started matches with a predetermined speech signal and recognizes the speech signal and performs recognition.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 45 words
An apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that said recognizing means (24, 26, 28) verifies whether a speech pattern of the speech signal input after communication is started matches with a standard speech pattern of the predetermined speech signal and recognizes the speech signal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 92 words
An apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that said recognizing means (24, 26, 28) comprises first memory means (24) for temporarily storing the speech pattern of the speech signal input after communication is started, second memory means (28) for storing the standard speech pattern of the predetermined speech signal, and matching means for reading out and verifying whether the speech pattern of the speech signal input after communication is started and stored in said first memory means (24) matches with the standard speech pattern stored in said second memory means (28).
