Abstract

Azo dyes of the formula containing polyethyleneimine [(DN = NK-) y X-] m P, in the D the residue of a diazo component of an isocyclic aromatic amine or a heteroaromatic amine, which is in each case free of hydroxysulfonyl groups, K the rest of a coupling component from the hydroxynaphthalene, aminopyridine or pyrazolone series, which has at most one hydroxysulfonyl group, or the rest of a coupling component which is derived from acetoacetic acid, y 1 or 2, X if y stands for 1, a covalent bond or a bridge member or if y stands for 2, a bridge member, and P the remainder of a polyethyleneimine, the degree of polymerization n of which is 5 to 25,000, mean, the number m of the chromophore radicals being dependent on the degree of polymerization n and being defined by the ratio m: n = 1: 1 to 1:35, with the proviso that if the radical K is substituted by hydroxysulfonyl, the ratio m: n Is 1: 2 to 1:35, and the use of these dyes for dyeing or printing fiber materials or for producing inks for the ink jet process.
