Abstract

Abstract The disclosure relates to a type setting system of a flexible text, or a hypertext for integratedly supporting the preparation of a document, controlling and retrieving the document, controlling and retrieving multimedia data, type setting data, and printing the document. The type setting system of the hypertext system comprises the steps of storing a network-shaped flexible text (1) formed by interrelating nodes which are logical units by links (2); applying type setting operation, necessary in converting the flexible text into a flat text, to the network of the flexible text; and converting the stored flexible text into the flat text based on the type setting operation necessary in converting the flexible text into the flat text.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 74 words
A type setting system of a flexible text comprising the the steps of: storing a network-shaped flexible text formed by interrelating nodes which are logical units by links; applying type setting operation, necessary in converting said flexible text into a flat text, to the network of said flexible text; and converting said stored flexible text into said flat text via said type setting operation necessary in converting said flexible text into said flat text.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 74 words
A type setting system of a flexible text comprising the the steps of: storing a network-shaped flexible text formed by interrelating nodes which are logical units by links; applying type setting operation, necessary in converting said flexible text into a flat text, to the network of said flexible text; and converting said stored flexible text into said flat text via said type setting operation necessary in converting said flexible text into said flat text.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 75 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 1, wherein the storing is performed by cards which are logical unit of a document, said respective cards being connected to each other by links and being classified into various types according to kind of data such as sentence card, image card, graphic card, voice card and the like, and card processors are provided to display and edit the data of respective cards.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 43 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 2, wherein each of the cards is linked to the card of feature of system and to the card of structure of system, and has a sentence, photograph, and graphic form.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 37 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 2, wherein a plurality of cards are opened simultaneously by the window system and characters and graphic form are cut and pasted on each other.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 66 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 2, wherein the logical relationship formed by the links which connect the cards is converted into the position relationship of a type setting by the type setting operation and the unit of "page" is introduced and is converted into a flat document having a linear structure with the function of the flexible text maintained.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 51 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 2, wherein the card processors transfer the type setting data, such as word wrap, heading, running head, and page number to a card type-data base manager which issues an instruction to a type setting unit to process the data.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 2, wherein the card processors consist of a voice processor for editing a voice.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 70 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 1, wherein the converting is performed by a type setting unit for processing the data of type setting, which arranges images, graphic forms, and layouts such as the size of paper, the number of columns, the arrangement of the contents of a document, position in which a graphic form is arranged, the style and size of the character.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 42 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 8, wherein the type setting unit is adapted to change the logical relationship represented by links which connect the cards in accordance with the position relationship of a type setting.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 51 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 8, wherein according to the fundamental type setting decided by the type setting unit under the control of system manager, the data of document processor is transferred to the type setting unit by the instruction of a card manager.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 58 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 8, wherein the type setting unit is capable of handling many styles and sizes attributes of characters and processings such as word wrap, heading, running head, and page number, and the cut and paste processing is performed between the type setting unit and the card processors.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 44 words
The type setting system of a flexible text as defined in Claim 8, wherein an editing operation is interactively made by the type setting unit, and the document being prepared is modified or changed in detail checking the entire document displayed on a screen.
