Abstract Translated from German Hochwirksame optische Koppler für Polymer-Lichtwellenleiter werden erhalten, wenn Lichtwellenleiter mittels eines Stückes Kunststoff-Schrumpfschlauch gebündelt und verschmolzen werden. Der Schrumpfschlauch wird dabei über die Schrumpftemperatur erhitzt. Das Verfahren ist einfach und kostengünstig. Highly effective optical couplers for polymer optical fibers are obtained if optical fibers are bundled and fused using a piece of plastic shrink tubing. The shrink tube is heated above the shrink temperature. The process is simple and inexpensive.
