Abstract
Abstract An element checking system for use in forward inference system is disclosed. When checking elements, each element is read out as a token and transmitted through a checking network. The element checking system includes a memory for storing an element checking network. The network has a plurality of inputs for receiving the tokens one at a time, and a plurality of nodes for checking features of the received token. The system also includes working memory for storing elements, each element carrying data identifying a particular node from which the checking procedure in the networks starts.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
90 words
An element checking system for use in a forward inference system for checking elements when each element is read out as a token and transmitted through a checking network, said element checking system comprising: means for storing an element checking network, said network having a plurality of inputs for receiving the tokens one at a time, and a plurality of nodes for checking features of the received token; and means for storing elements, each element carrying data identifying a particular node from which the checking procedure in the networks starts.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
43 words
An element checking system as claimed in claim 1 wherein each of said elements is defined by an element name and one or more pairs of attribute and value, and wherein said nodes comprises nodes for checking the attribute name and/or attribute value.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
37 words
An element checking system as claimed in claim 1, wherein said storing means comprises first memory means for storing patterns of various elements and second memory means for storing specific elements with specific attribute and specific value.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
An element checking system as claimed in claim 3, wherein said data identifying a particular node is stored in said first memory means.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
23 words
An element checking system as claimed in claim 3, wherein said data identifying a particular node is stored in said second memory means.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
105 words
An element checking method for use in a forward inference system for checking elements when each element is read out as a token and transmitted through a checking network, said element checking method comprising the steps of: storing a element checking network, said network having a plurality of inputs for receiving the tokens one at a time, and a plurality of nodes for checking features of the received token; storing elements, each element carrying data identifying a particular node from which the checking procedure in the networks starts; and sending each token to said particular node in said network to start to check said token.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
105 words
An element checking method for use in a forward inference system for checking elements when each element is read out as a token and transmitted through a checking network, said element checking method comprising the steps of: storing a element checking network, said network having a plurality of inputs for receiving the tokens one at a time, and a plurality of nodes for checking features of the received token; storing elements, each element carrying data identifying a particular node from which the checking procedure in the networks starts; and sending each token to said particular node in said network to start to check said token.
