Arrangement with a thin-film waveguide extending in a flat manner
Abstract
An arrangement with a flatly extending thin film waveguide is specified, in which a coupling of waves guided in the thin film waveguide and a coupling out of these waves (Str) perpendicular to the flat thin film waveguide is made possible. For this purpose, in or on the thin-film waveguide (DFW), a structure is formed from a plurality of strip waveguides (StW) running alongside one another at a distance and a diffraction grating (BG1) with grating lines (GL1) running in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the strip waveguide. The distance (b₁) between adjacent grating lines (GL1) is equal to the wavelength (λ) of an electromagnetic wave that can propagate in the thin-film waveguide (DFW) and in the strip waveguide (StW). Application for devices that require laser radiation of relatively high power and strong focusing.
