Abstract
Abstract A pulse oximeter apparatus comprises a bandpass filter adapted selectively to exclude motion artefact from wanted signal. In order to achieve this, the filter is initially tuned to the pulse rate. Moreover, as the pulse rate changes, the filter is so-adapted that its pass-band will track the pulse rate.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
21 words
A pulse oximeter apparatus characterised in that it comprises a bandpass filter adapted selectively to exclude motion artefact from wanted signal.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
21 words
A pulse oximeter apparatus characterised in that it comprises a bandpass filter adapted selectively to exclude motion artefact from wanted signal.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
17 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein the bandpass filter is adapted to track pulse rate.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
45 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the bandpass filters feedback loop is adapted to be broken and the filter tuned to pulse rate as determined by the standard pulse oximeter algorithm when there is judged to be no motion artefact.
Claim 5
Independent Claim
44 words
An apparatus as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3 wherein there is an automatic gain control system at the input to the bandpass filter such that there is a substantial overload margin when there is no motion artefact judged to be present.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
25 words
The use of an apparatus as claimed in any of claims 1 to 4 for the determination of pulse rate and/or arterial blood oxygen saturation.
