Abstract

Abstract A method of recording data onto a recording medium where plural tracks are provided side by side comprises the steps of: sequentially recording a series of data from a track on one side of a medium; writing index information including position information of a last recorded track, after the series of data are completely recorded, in an area of the medium different from the area where the data is recorded; reading out the position information and seeking the last track on the basis of the readout position information; and recording the next data from a track next to the sought last track.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 102 words
A method of recording data onto a recording medium where plural tracks are provided side by side, comprising the steps of: sequentially recording a series of data from a track on one side of a medium; writing index information including position information of a last recorded track, after the series of data are completely recorded, in an area of the medium different from the area where the data is recorded; reading out the position information and seeking the last track on the basis of the readout position information; and recording the next data from a track next to the sought last track.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 102 words
A method of recording data onto a recording medium where plural tracks are provided side by side, comprising the steps of: sequentially recording a series of data from a track on one side of a medium; writing index information including position information of a last recorded track, after the series of data are completely recorded, in an area of the medium different from the area where the data is recorded; reading out the position information and seeking the last track on the basis of the readout position information; and recording the next data from a track next to the sought last track.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 44 words
A method according to Claim 1, wherein the step of recording data comprises the steps of checking whether normal recording is performed in every track and recording the same data in a track next to the checked track when normal recording is not performed.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 31 words
A method according to Claim 2, wherein the step of checking comprises the steps of reading out the data recorded in the medium and comparing the readout data with original data.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 52 words
A method according to Claim 3, wherein the medium is a card-like medium and is reciprocally scanned with a light beam spot, the data is recorded during forward movement of the reciprocal scanning, and the steps of checking is performed by reading out the data during backward movement of the reciprocal scanning.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 36 words
A method according to Claim 1, further comprising the step of checking a predetermined number of nonrecorded tracks after the last track, prior to recording of the information from the track next to the last track.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 17 words
A method according to Claim 5, wherein the predetermined number of steps is not less than two.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 15 words
A method according to Claim 1, wherein the position information is a track address number.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method according to Claim 7, wherein the track address number is written in a track during data recording.
Claim 10
Independent Claim 88 words
A method of recording data onto a recording medium, wherein a directing portion and a data portion are allocated on the medium, wherein data is recorded in a series in the data portion, wherein when data is recorded in the data portion an entry is made in the directory portion as to what position the series of recorded data has reached, and wherein when subsequent data is recorded reference is made to the entry in the directory portion in determining where to commence recording of the subsequent data.
Claim 11
Independent Claim 88 words
A method of recording data onto a recording medium, wherein a directing portion and a data portion are allocated on the medium, wherein data is recorded in a series in the data portion, wherein when data is recorded in the data portion an entry is made in the directory portion as to what position the series of recorded data has reached, and wherein when subsequent data is recorded reference is made to the entry in the directory portion in determining where to commence recording of the subsequent data.
