Abstract

Abstract A dispenser of paste-like products, in particular toothpaste, is composed of a cylindrical container (2) having a head (4), a bottom wall (5) slidable tightly therein one way toward the head (4), a pumping membrane (10) mounted inside it close to the head (4), a delivery conduit (27) attached rigidly to the head (4) and associated, through a part (30) thereof, with a sleeve (9) formed in one piece with the pumping membrane (10), said sleeve being therefore slidable tightly on the delivery conduit (30), an actuating lever (19) pivoted to the head (4) for movement between a home position and a toothpaste dispensing end position, said lever (19) acting on the sleeve (9) to operate the pumping membrane (10), a shutter (34) connected to the sleeve (9) by means of a plurality of small bridges (35) held circumferentially apart from one another, said shutter (34) being operative to close and open the delivery conduit at the inlet (28) mouth thereof. Thus, the advantage is afforded that, on filling the container (2), the paste will not leak into the delivery conduit (27) where it would be apt to harden as a result of some air leaking into it from the outside, and hinder the operation of the dispenser on the occasion of its initial use.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 283 words
A dispenser of paste-like products, in particular toothpaste, comprising a cylindrical container having a vertical longitudinal axis, a head located at the container upper end, a bottom wall mounted for tight sliding movement inside the container in one direction toward the head, a pumping member mounted on the container close against the head, a sleeve having a free end and an opposed end associated with the pumping member, an actuating lever for moving the pumping member, trunnions protruding from the lever along a perpendicular pivot axis to the container longitudinal axis, said pivot axis being fixed relatively to the container, said lever being movable angularly about said pivot axis from a home position to a paste delivery position, trunnion bearing seats formed in the head for accommodating said trunnions, a delivery conduit having an inlet mouth and an outlet mouth and being mounted to the head, a covering eave formed integrally with said actuating lever and extending to cover the outlet mouth when the lever is at its home position, said actuating lever being provided with a cam profile for engagement in said free end of the sleeve, said tubular delivery conduit being connected to said sleeve by its inlet-side end for sliding movement in an axial direction, said pumping member comprising a flexible annular membrane having an outward edge held axially to the cylindrical container and an inward edge connected to said sleeve, characterized in that said pumping member (10) is provided with a shutter (34) to close the inlet mouth (28) of said delivery conduit (27) when the actuating lever (19) is at said home position and to open it when said actuating lever (19) is removed from said home position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 283 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 59 words
A dispenser according to Claim 1, characterized in that the sleeve (9) associated with said pumping member (10) has an annular groove (9a) formed in its thickness and open to the bottom of the container (2), said groove (9a) defining a concentrical tubular wall (9b) facing said delivery conduit (27) with a free edge facing the container (2) bottom.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
A dispenser according to Claim 2, characterized in that said tubular wall (9b) has annular ribs (32) arranged to face said delivery conduit (27,30) for providing a tight sliding contact between the conduit (27,30) and the sleeve (9).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 44 words
A dispenser according to Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that said shutter (34) is connected to the free edge of said concentrical tubular wall (9b) of the sleeve by means of a plurality of bridges (35) spaced apart to define passage ports (36).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 45 words
A dispenser according to Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that said shutter (34) comprises a cylindrical element (37) coaxial with the inlet mouth (28) of the delivery conduit (27) and having an outside diameter selected for removably plug-like fitting into said inlet mouth (28).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 76 words
A dispenser according to Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that said shutter (34) comprises a plate-like element having a flat annular rim (39) facing the inlet mouth (28) of said delivery conduit (27) for face engagement with the edge (28a) thereof when in the closed position, and inclined ribs (40) formed in its center area (38) concentrical with said inlet mouth (28) and arranged to face the latter for centering during the closing approach movement.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 77 words
