Process for the production of photographically structurable coatings
Abstract
Abstract Process for the production of photographically structurable coatings, in which (i) a material to be coated, optionally after heating, is electrostatically coated with a coating powder containing (A) a radiation-curable compound and, optionally, (B) a radiation-activable polymerisation initiator for (A), (ii) the coated material is heated in order to bring about melting of the powder to form a film which is solid after cooling, (iii) the solid film is exposed, in a predetermined pattern, to actinic radiation at which the radiation-curable compound (A) and/or the radiation-activable polymerisation initiator (B) are activated so that the component (A) is entirely or partly cured in the irradiated regions, (iv) the coated material is optionally heated and the exposed parts are consequently subjected to a thermal conditioning, (v) the regions of the film which are uncured are removed by development, and (vi) the coated material is optionally reheated and (A) is postcured in the process. The process makes it possible to produce photographically structurable coatings such as, for example, electroplating resists or, preferably, solder resist masks without using solvents during coating as in the case of liquid resists, and without using auxiliary films which are required in the case of dry resists.
