Abstract Translated from German Zur Codierung von Bildsignalen, insbesondere für die Farb­einzelbildübertragung, werden Spektralkoeffizienten mittels einer DCT gebildet. Eine Wahrnehmbarkeits-Schwellwertent­scheidung angewendet auf Blöcke dieser Spektralkoeffizienten wird in ihrer Empfindlichkeit in Abhängigkeit des Auftretens von Kantenstrukturen im Bildinhalt gesteuert. Eine Quanti­sierung und eine Entropiecodierung schließt sich an die Schwellwertentscheidung an. Zur Datenreduktion werden den Spektralkoeffizienten blockweise Klassen zugeordnet. Zur Identifizierung der Spektralkoeffizienten zu solchen Klassen genügt die Übertragung einer Klasseninformation. Spectral coefficients are formed by means of a DCT for coding image signals, in particular for color single image transmission. A perceptibility threshold decision applied to blocks of these spectral coefficients is controlled in terms of their sensitivity depending on the occurrence of edge structures in the image content. Quantization and entropy coding follow the threshold decision. Classes are assigned to the spectral coefficients in blocks for data reduction. The transmission of class information is sufficient to identify the spectral coefficients for such classes.
